This is the perfect complement to pork and chicken. The smoky and maple flavors pair well with bourbon undertones. I highly recommend Bourbon Baked Beans as a side-dish.
Ingredients
1 cup ketchup
½ cup of your favorite bourbon (I used Evan Williams Black Label)
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons molasses
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon stone-ground Dijon mustard
1 ½ teaspoons liquid smoke
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
Combine all ingredients. Bring to boil in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to a low simmer until the sauce is thickened and reduced to 1½ cups, stirring often (about 15-20 minutes). Place in a covered container and refrigerate. Brush on your favorite chicken and pork or use as a dipping sauce.
