Cranberry Maple Bourbon Smash

Celebrate the holidays in true style with this cocktail combining the flavors and scents of the season - cranberry, maple syrup, and of course, bourbon. Enjoy this sweet and crisp cocktail that is perfect for your upcoming get-togethers.



(makes 4 servings)


  • 1 cup frozen cranberries

  • ½ cup sugar (or your favorite sugar-free sweetener)

  • ½ cup water

  • 5 lemon wedges

  • 5 fresh mint leaves

  • 8 oz bourbon

  • 4 tsp maple extract

  • Crushed ice

  • Lemon peel, mint, and cranberries for garnish


Combine cranberries, sugar/sweetener, water, 1 lemon wedge, and mint leaves in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes or until cranberries burst. Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve. Discard solids.


Muddle 4 lemon wedges in a glass measuring cup. Stir in bourbon and maple extract. 


Fill each of 4 (6 oz) cocktail glasses half-way with ice. Divide bourbon mixture between glasses. Top each drink with 1 oz of the cranberry syrup made earlier. Garnish with lemon peel, fresh sprig of mint, and speared sugared cranberries, if desired.
